Welcome message

Welcome to my webpage. Two of the activities that I enjoy the most are teaching and doing research. In this webpage you will be able to find some information about them. I also have fun doing many other things: traveling, watching movies, eating, reading, and getting lost in big cities. Two that I really enjoy are Madrid (my hometown) and Lisbon (my second hometown). Both are always worth a visit.

Short Bio

AntoniosPicture

I received the degree in Telecommunications Eng. and the doctorate degree (together equivalent to the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Eng.) with highest honors from the Carlos III University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 2002 and 2007 respectively.

In 2007, I became a faculty of the Department of Signal Theory and Communications, King Juan Carlos University, Madrid, Spain, where I currently develop my research and teaching activities as an Associate Professor.

From 2005 to 2015 I visited (under different roles) the Department of Electrical Eng. at the University of Minnesota, USA. In 2015 and 2016 I was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Electrical and Systems Eng. at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Teaching

Teaching is one of the most rewarding tasks a human kind can do. Teaching engineering is even a greater pleasure. Engineering is about using intuition, maths and science to solve non-trivial problems. It is about using technology to improve the society where we live, and sometimes even to shape the future that will come.

Research

The core of my research work is the application of adaptive (stochastic) signal processing and non-linear optimization, mostly duality theory and dynamic programming, to the fields of wireless networks, smart grids and network science. Nowadays, I have a growing interest in understating the relationship between signal processing and graph and network theory. Development of signal processing algorithms tailored to graphs and networks will have a great impact into the emerging fields of intelligent and dynamic networks, social networks, and big data.
